ARTICLE: EVEN IN DEATH, HIS LOVE PREVAILS

Anchor Passage:
Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. And even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you." Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" She said to him, "Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who is coming into the world."
                                                                                - John. 11:17-27

Most of us have experienced the death of a loved one. I remember the story of Anna who told me of family friend that died a few years back.
According to her, the death was one that marked the beginning of a mile stone in her life as it eventually led her to Christ.
In the words of Anna;

"Uncle Patrick was only in his 40's, a tough looking, bearded guy with a jolly sense of humor. I remember the day he called my mom, a seasoned nurse, with some unusual symptoms. My stomach felt uneasy as I overheard my mother tell Patrick he needed medical attention as soon as possible.
My sisters and I would only seePatrick a couple more times after that call. Once, just before he was admitted for a bone marrow transplant to treat the rare disease attacking his body. He was wearing his regular clothes and looked like the Patrick we always knew.
The second time was in the hospital after his transplant. He looked weak and bald, and that scared me a bit. It was the day before my convocation and mom urged me and my twin sister to tell him about our beautiful convocation dresses. Patrick listened to our descriptions as if our dresses were the most important topic in the world. A few weeks later, I got a phone call from my mom telling me Patrick had passed away.
One of the saddest aspects of Patrick's untimely death was that he never fulfilled his long-held dream to marry and have children of his own. That stuck with me. But another thing that stuck with me was Patrick's memorial service. I was not a Christian, and to my surprise, Patrick's funeral was filled with one story after another describing his devotion to Christ and his lengthy trips into the mission fields. Patrick's death played an instrumental role in bringing me to faith in Christ a few years later.

I know many of you have similar stories. Life was going along swimmingly, and suddenly the phone rang and nothing was ever the same. I also know many of you have encouraging stories of how God worked through the death of someone in a special way.
Some of the most encouraging reflections are found in the book by former hospice nurse, Trudy Harris, titled Glimpses of Heaven (Revell, 2008). Harris collected stories of her dying patients to offer comfort to those who have experienced loss, and also to share the profound spiritual insights she has gleaned from those getting ready to pass into heaven. Having observed God's tender care for her patients time and again, Harris says, "Those who have allowed themselves the luxury of being present with patients as they are dying come away realizing in a whole new way that there is only one Divine Physician, and it is He alone who sets the timetables of our lives."
While death is always a tragedy, Harris confirms what the Christian faith teaches – that even death has merit when doused with God's grace. Harris writes that many of her patients could sense – even see -- God's presence in ways most of us can't right now. She notes her patients, who endured painful illness, were anxious to give hope, comfort, and wisdom to the living before they passed on. Some even died with so much grace, they wore a gentle smile.

Of course, we can look to our Savior, who did not avoid death even when He could have, to see two truths: God works through the dying process to draw each of us closer to Him, and death – no matter how horrible - does not have the final word.

While it can be difficult for those of us here to bear the weight of losing a loved one, like Martha in our Anchor passage, we can find peace in knowing God does not abandon us or our loved ones even in the darkest moments of death. And while we don't yet have the privilege of seeing God in all His glory, we can faithfully entrust our futures and the futures of our loved ones' to the merciful love of Christ.

NEWS: TRUMP VS CARSON; TAKES THE BATTLE TO THEIR CHURCH DENOMINATIONS

The republican presidential candidates Donald Trump and Ben Carson has finally taken their presidential contest out on their different church denominations. Carson who is a staunt member of the seventh day Adventist has made earlier comments on Trump's arrogance. He says that Trump doesn't like to give God the credit for his achievements. Even though he later apologized for the comments.

On the other hand, Trump who is a Presbyterian was consistently emphasizing his religious stand to the public. In his words he says;

"And look I don't have to say it. I'm Presbyterian!!can you believe it? I'm Presbyterian, I'm Presbyterian, I'm Presbyterian!!!.and that's down the middle of the road folks, in all fairness ". He continued. I mean the seventh day Adventist, I don't know about. I just don't know about!!

Carson responded to Trumps remark regRding his religious affiliation in Ana interview on Sunday

"I refuse to really get into that mud pit. I think that was a huge mistake in the last cycle and I'm certainly not going to get into that, no matter what anybody says. I spend as much time in non seventh day Adventist churches because I'm not convinced the denomination is the most important thing. I think it's the relationship with God that's most important.

Although Trump has been the front runner for the republicans for some time, Carson recently
surpassed him in the polls. Carson is now leading Trump by nine percentage points. Reports have it that the rest of the candidates are far trailing behind.

ARTICLE: WHAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE

Anchor passage:

But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it—the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction
                                                                                                           - Romans. 3:21-22

Growing up, I was taught that I could do anything I wanted in life as long as I was willing to work for it. That’s how many people in this part of the world are raised… to never give up on their dreams, pull themselves up by their bootstraps, and make something of
themselves no matter their background. There's a popular song I learnt when I was young
that goes like...I know I can be what I wanna be, if I work hard at it, I'll be where I wanna be...
This sounds very true and is still relevant to the fulfillment of ones dreams. As a matter of fact, that way of thinking works great for reaching a better life.
But as good as this may sound we must understand that the best we can achieve, no matter how hard we work on our own is limited to this world alone. It doesn’t work at all when it comes to reaching eternal life. That’s because on our own, heaven is completely unattainable. You’d have more success in jumping to the moon than you would in getting to heaven by your own works.

Left to ourselves, we’re stubborn, prideful, sinful, and utterly filthy. The victorious Christian life is not one that's meant to be lived by physical effort or determination. This is because sin is a nature and it takes the Holyspirit in you to exchange that nature of sin for the life of God. I’ve often said that I wouldn’t trust the best 15 minutes I’ve ever lived to get me into heaven. But praise God that Jesus Christ has done the work I couldn’t, taken away my sins, and given me eternal life when I certainly didn’t deserve it!
The bible says in 2 Corinthians. 5:21;
" for He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in him."
Any chance you had of getting to heaven on your own was destroyed by sin. But Christ destroyed the power of sin on the cross to give you eternal life if you’ll only trust in Him. Put your faith in Christ, not yourself, for eternal life. It’s His work alone that can save you!

NEWS: BRIDE PRESENTS FATHER WITH CERTIFICATE OF PURITY ON HER WEDDING DAY

Brelyn Bowman, a new bride in Maryland presented her father, who is a pastor with a certificate of purity on her wedding day. She said this was a pledge she made to God when she got saved to keep her body as a temple for the Lord according to 1Cor.6:20 which says;

Do you not know that your body is the temple of the holyspirit which is in you?whom you have received from God? You are not your own. You were bought at a price, therefore glorify God in your bodies.

She also said that she did it in order to surprise her father and assure him that she has kept her purity.

Her father told the press that he wasn't aware of his daughter's intention of presenting him with the certificate earlier. He said his daughter wanted to honor him by not allowing any man to touch her before her husband.

The full details of the certificate reads;

On the 10th day of May, 2006, I, Brelyn Freeman, made a vow to glorify to glorify God in my body and spirit which are God's because I was bought with a price(Jesus). I have kept this commitment and present this certificate to my father Dr.Michael A Freeman to show how I have honored God and my earthly father in my body by maintaining my purity and that my hymen is intact on this 10th day of October, 2015.

On the contrary, the act has attracted mixed reactions from people as different opinions were being discussed concerning the issue of virginity. Some were of the opinion that such an issue should be a private thing between the bride and her husband, that the sex life of a couple should not be an open
subject of discussion in the public.

Some medical practitioners were also of the opinion that the amount of hymnal tissue is not a true indicator of virginity.

ANOTHER TRIP TO HEAVEN AND BACK...Mr.Adebayo's Story

There has been various tales and revelations of people going to heaven and hell for some time now. Some people have already started to disregard such news as it has become very rampant.

Here's another account of one Mr.Adebayo who claimed that Jesus took him to heaven and back.

By the special grace of God, I came across the gospel of Jesus Christ some years back. While confessing my sins on my knees in prayers, pleading for forgiveness with faith in the BLOOD of Jesus Christ, Jesus showed me mercy and saved my soul (I became born again). I pressed forward in prayers; He sanctified my soul and later baptized me with the Holy Ghost and fire.

On Thursday, July 30, 2015, I heard an audible voice that said to me, “You will embark on a journey from which you might either return or not.” This happened right in the Tabernacle while I was praying on my knees, just immediately after the Faith Clinic by my District Superintendent (DS)
during the Worker’s Conference that preceded the recently concluded annual camp meeting of The Apostolic Faith Church at Faith City, Igbesa, Ogun State, Nigeria. Thereafter, I began to have some strange feelings of sickness in my body that made people to ask what happened to me. In faith,
I replied, “All is well.” At 12:02am on Sunday, August 2, 2015 as I was sleeping in the dormitory
where I was lodged, an unseen hand woke me up and I heard the same audible voice again, this time telling me to go to the tabernacle to pray. At this time, I was so sick and feeling as though my head was spilt into two. Owing to this, I started whispering some prayers as I lay down. After much reluctance on my part, I heard the same voice again saying, “Go to the Tabernacle and I will heal you.” In obedience, I managed to get up and went
to the tabernacle. On getting there, I wrote a prayer request asking God for healing. I had no strength to kneel down again but could only manage to lie down at the altar to pray. I beckoned to a nearby usher to get me any minister of God around to pray for me. At that point, it seemed the end had
come. I remembered the usher came back alone, knelt down beside me and
started praying for me. (It was after the whole incident, the usher later
narrated to me he did that at the bidding of the minister he saw and that on his way back to me he heard the audible voice of Jesus that I sustained satanic arrows attack). As he was praying for me I realized my strength was reducing and my voice going down gradually as I was answering “Amen” till I could not utter anymore word. That was all I remembered while I was here.
Then I discovered I (my spirit) was moved out of my body; and as my spirit
stood up, I saw my body lying down flat on the floor with shot arrow before my body. As I turned away from my body, I saw the Lord Jesus
standing beside me, full of glory and was wearing a glowing face, so glowing that I could not look at His face. He told me to look into the darkness at western part of the tabernacle (West Pavilion side). I saw some people inside the darkness shooting arrows to my body that was lying on the
floor (then I realized the sickness was as a result of the attack). I then anxiously asked Him who those firing these arrows were, but He told me I did not have to know them.

In a twinkling of an eye, we were out of the tabernacle and in a very
different atmosphere; the place was filled with glory: beautiful houses,
awesome scenery, more than words could express. I immediately knew we were in Heaven. Jesus then took me to a very beautiful house that I can not describe with words. That was the second time He would take me to that particular house. (The first incident was on an earlier account when He
took me to Heaven). There I saw people that wore white garment like myself
moving toward the other side of Heaven together with me. Then I came to a river in front of me, and as I tried to cross over, I could not while others that were wearing same white garment did freely. The more I tried to, the more difficult it became and Jesus was looking at me. That prompted
me to request Jesus to let me cross over. But He said in His response that
“those that crossed over can not come back to the earth”. I then started
pleading with Him to let me cross the river so that I would not come back to earth in order to escape the pains and struggles I was going through on earth. Then, the Lord Jesus told me He would not allow my corpse to be taken back home from camp meeting so that my demise may not drive people
away from Him. At this time, I did not remember I have a wife, children or any earthly possessions.

In another twinkling of an eye, we were back in the Tabernacle on the
campground and the Lord took me to different lodging centers for campers. Our first place of visit
was the lodging place of my DS where we met him praying on his knees in the night (this gladdened my heart). We left there for the lodging dormitory upstairs, above the “Information Centre” where I was lodged with other ministers. We met people sleeping physically, but many, according to Jesus, were more deeply asleep spiritually. Jesus pointed to my pastor who was physically sleeping but not asleep spiritually
and said; “he is mine”. We thereafter found ourselves (Jesus and I) back in the Tabernacle. Meanwhile, we never walked to any of those places we went
to, the movement was at the speed of thought. There were people praying very fervently in the Tabernacle but the Lord Jesus said something very sad. He said people were not ready for His coming. I was surprised at that and now asked about those people that were praying. In His response, He
said MANY OF THEM ARE INSIDE THE HOUSE AND CRYING TO HIM FOR RESCUE WHILE THEY ARE DENYING HIM ACCESS TO DO THE RESCUE BY LOCKING THE DOOR OF THE ROOM WHILE HE (JESUS) IS WAITING OUTSIDE TO DELIVER THEM BUT COULD NOT ENTER SINCE THE DOOR IS LOCKED. Jesus also added that people today are particular about “all these things” that He promised would be added effortlessly if they would seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness. (Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”).
He went further to say many had their names initially written in the Book of Life but because of the cares and pursuits of the things of this world,
they forget to prepare for His coming, and their names are removed from the Book of Life. They do not remember HOME again but are rather praying for earthly things, “all these things”, while forgetting to continually “seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness”. Interestingly, He said He still have few who are renewing and retaining their names in the Book of
Life daily by washing in His blood. He now added that all things are set in
Heaven for His coming but only few are ready; just like a drop of water in a bowl. Jesus then  specifically said He is sending me back to the world for
a particular purpose: to tell people that HIS COMING IS VERY, VERY IMMINENT
AND AS A MATTER OF FACT LESS THAN ‘1 HOUR’. He also gave me a particular
message for my wife (that was the moment I remembered I was married and had children). I then replied Jesus that how would that be, since I am not a
pastor, neither an overseer nor a man of many words? The Lord Jesus replied
and said He would back me up whenever and wherever I am to give the
testimony.

Jesus added that there would be three categories of people that would
listen to my testimony. The first would hear the word and spread it, the
second group will hear and amend their ways and He will save them, the
third group will disregard the warning and perish. Jesus Christ was
greeting and congratulating me but I did not answer since I was not happy
just because He wanted me to come back. Having noticed that in me, HE said,
“I will be with you.”
At last Jesus asked me to return to my body that was lying on the floor on
the altar in the Tabernacle. As I was reluctant, He instructed me the
second time and I entered. That was when I woke up and started crying. I
was still seeing Jesus Christ standing as I stood up physically and I
noticed the headache and the whole sickness had disappeared. Jesus Christ
later vanished from my sight while I was sharing the testimony with the same usher that prayed with me. I traveled back home to Akure, Ondo State,
Nigeria that very Sunday. I was surprised to later hear that my DS said in
his sermon that very day that Jesus told him the name of many have been
removed from the Book of Life but promised to deliver them if they would
repent and pray. It was also mentioned in his subsequent words of
admonition during the camp meeting that many are half-dead spiritually and
pursuing material things in their prayers. This confirms the spirit of God
to be one.
IT COULD HAPPEN IN A MOMENT FROM NOW. If you haven’t given your life to
Christ, or already derailed in your focus, there is no better time than NOW
to make amend and right all the wrongs! Please pray and make a decision
today. Which of the three groups you want to belong? I plead with you to
please be part of those that will amend their ways and also partake in
sharing the message. Please do not keep this message to yourself, help
share with as many people as you come across in all platforms. REMEMBER, WE
DON’T HAVE TIME ANYMORE; IT IS LESS THAN 1 HOUR!
BE PREPARED!

LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION...

Anchor passage:
"Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be abased and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need".
                                                                                                            Philippians.4:11-12
" But everyone is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed".
                                                                                                                       James. 1:14

Often times, I have heard people ask questions on how to overcome certain temptations. Some approach the issue like there's one general cure for all temptations. Others see it as dangerous and unholy phase of the Christian faith. The latter scripture makes us understand that every temptation is a function of ones desire. what then is the place of desires in temptations? If as children of God, our desires are created by Him, then why are we asked not to yield to temptations?
Here's what I think...
every temptation is an offer to fulfill a God-given desire in a God-forbidden way.

 Let me explain…
Take food, for example. There’s nothing wrong with eating food. In fact, hunger is a God-given desire for life and sustenance. But the temptation can be to fulfill that desire through gluttony, which is obviously a sin. Another desire is the sexual urge. Many young people have silently wondered why their sexual organs are so sensitive yet they are asked to abstain from all forms of sexual impurity. The urge is put there by God and it is to be used for procreation in marriage. There's nothing sinful about having a sexual urge but it becomes sinful if you allow your heart and mind become engrossed in the desire of fornication, adultery or any other form sexual immorality.

This can also be applied to less tangible desires, like the desire to be loved and accepted. A God-honoring way to fulfill that desire would be to find love and acceptance in Him. But sadly, many people try to find love and acceptance solely in the things of the world and become enamored with searching and searching for something they’ll never find.

Desires are normal. Search God’s Word and discover what glorifies Him. Understand He’s created you with desires. And ask God for His leading in showing you how you can find your ultimate need and satisfaction in Him alone!

BELIEVERS COUPLE CONVICTED OF KILLING SON BY NOT GIVING HIM MEDICAL CARE WHEN NEEDED

A young couple who lives in Oregon, USA and believes in faith healing has been convicted of second degree manslaughter for neglecting to give their infant son proper medical attention.
Reports have it that Dale and Shannon Hickman, who belong to the Oregon-based Followers of Christ Church, do not believe in using medical means for healing, but instead turn to prayer and faith-based healing.
Members of Followers of Christ Church believe that getting medical care is a sign of weak faith.
The Oregon State Supreme Court, however, believes otherwise. The Court has convicted both Dale and Shannon Hickman of second degree manslaughter for failing to give their newborn son proper medical care when he was born prematurely.
The Hickman’s son, David, died of staphylococcus pneumonia within nine hours of his birth, something one doctor estimated “would have had a 99 percent chance” of being cured had the Hickman’s brought him to the hospital.
The Hickmans said they did not know their son was gravely ill until minutes before his death. They say they maintain their faith-based beliefs and stated that they do not regret their decision.
“We do what the Bible tells us, and we put God first and ask for faith,” stated Shannon Hickman. “If we don’t have the faith, then we seek medical treatment because it is not there, you know.”

NIGERIAN CHRISTIAN ACTOR FINALLY SPEAKS ABOUT THE QUALITY OF CHRISTIAN STORIES IN FILM MAKING

Nigerian Christian actor David Oyelowo recently talked about his view on Christian movies and called for Christian filmmakers to be more creative rather than telling stereotypical Christian stories. Oyelowo, who stars in films such as Selma and the newly-released Captive, is outspoken about his Christian faith, but is calling for Christian films to be more nuanced in the way they tell stories.

“I’ve seen enough of them [Christian films] to know that in many ways it’s about, OK, the Gospel is Jesus and him being the path to light and you play that scene after scene after scene,” he said in a recent interview. “No film that you and I have watched and loved is as simplistic as that, and life as you and I have lived is not as simplistic as that, and the Bible is not as simplistic as that. I think that complexity, doubt, difficulty, unexpected cul-de-sacs, is what we all look for in a story, and in life generally.”
Oyelowo is calling for a more true-to-life approach in Christian films, and he lives out these beliefs by being part of films that have Christian themes and messages, but do not take an “on the nose” approach, as he terms it, to getting the Christian message across.
In Captive, which is based on a true story, Oyelowo plays an escaped murderer who kidnaps a meth addict, played by Kate Mara. Mara is converted to Christianity while she is a captive.
The movie is rated PG-13 and there are scenes that have caused some to question Oyelowo’s involvement with it. For example, one scene shows Kate Mara topless.
Oyelowo, however, believes that Christian filmmakers must portray life as it truly is and not sanitize it into a neatly summed up Christian message.
Personally, I want to open it out as a conversation,” Oyelowo said. “I don’t want (faith-based filmmaking) to feel cliquey. I don’t want it to feel steeped in Christian-ese that only a certain group speak and
understand, and therefore cut a bunch of people out. I’m interested in speaking to a broad audience."

ARTICLE:

WHEN GOD HIDES HIS FACE

Oh God!, where is your face? !!.... This is a cliche for most of us during difficult times.
One thing we should never want to experience is for God to hide His face, because the face of God represents His favour, friendship, and fellowship.

Now is it even possible for God to hide His face? When does He do this and why? There is only one thing that causes God to hide His face from us.  It is found in Isaiah 59:1-2;

"Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.  But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear".

Sin is the one thing that causes God's face to be hidden.  The bible says we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God, which means the sin of mankind had hidden God's face. In the beginning , when man exchanged the life of God for that of the devil, God withdrew His face and presence from man. Man was deprived of His singular purpose of worship with the Most High.

God in His infinite mercy thought of a way to bridge the big gulf created by sin between man and Himself. He had to send His only son Jesus Christ to come and settle the matter once and for all!

But that is not the end of the story, thank goodness!  In Isaiah 50:6 we are told,

"I gave My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting."

Because Jesus did not hide His face from shame and spitting, because He took your place and died for your sins, God's face can shine upon you.
He could have hidden His face; He could have avoided the whole crucifixion, but He didn't. He bore a shame that was not His as God the Father laid the sin of the world on Him.
Now because Jesus has chosen not to hide His face, the face of God need not be hidden from any of us. The light of God's countenance can shine upon every one of us, and we can indeed be the friends of God.

Thank you, Jesus, for what you did!

Jesus has paid the price! It is now left for you to accept the offer and become a friend of God indeed.
