"Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw by when you say "I have no pleasure in them".
Ecclesiastes. 12:1
The youthful stage of life is the best time to serve God and get the best from the Word of life. The Bible in Matthew. 7:24 says:
Therefore whoever hears this sayings of mine and does them, I will like him to a wise man who built his house on the Rock."
The solid foundation that Jesus talked about in the above scripture is built in the youthful stage. Life has its own way of bringing certain difficulties our way. Your survival during these times is dependent on how much of God's word you have stored up inside of you since the time of your youth. Everything that a man has, his time, his strength, his resources should be used to serve God. The Bible records that the glory of the youth is in their strength. This means that a man can never post of a better period of great physical strength throughout his lifetime other than during the youthful days. Just a labourer requires great strength to dig deep into the ground for a very solid foundation for a mighty building, so is great strength required to build a solid spiritual foundation that will stand the test of time when trials and tribulations arise later in life.
As a young person, what can you say about your identity in God? What exactly is God saying about your life? How much of the Word of God do you have in you? People frequently make statements like "...life is not a bed of roses", "...if wishes were horses","...all that glitters is not gold". All these axioms depict the inevitability of hardships and trials in life. So I am not being pessimistic when I talk about preparing for hurdles in life. For a believer who is heaven minded, the preparation should be more. If we waste our time during the youthful days of glory, then we will have little or nothing to still The storms of life when it arises. That the challenges of life will arise is certain but are you well kitted with the armour of God?
