ARTICLE:
LET LOVE LEAD

"Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other." Romans 12:9-10 (NLT)

Do you ever wonder exactly what God wants you to do, especially when you have so many options and demands to manage?
So often, we want big directional signs from God. But God just wants us to pay attention to what He places right in front of us. He wants us to pay attention to the little details that matter most. The little drops that make an ocean. There are so many opportunities that abound through which we can express God's love. Most of us claim we love God and treat our neighbours with much disdain and contempt. We repeatedly sing and profess our love for God while we shun avenues to express it truly.

In every human being, there is a bit of God. An incorruptible potential that can never be eroded by the most severe environmental circumstances. This is what God sees when He looks at us. Despite our errors and unfaithfulness, He still finds Himself drawn to us because of this intrinsic ability that we possess. This isnt anything we have a right to. Out of His generousity and benevolence has He endowed us with such. Most of us make the mistake of judging people by their present circumstance or predicament. We look down on people because of their financial incapability or lack of material possessions. At times, we pretend to love others, our love is mostly conditional and backed up with an ulterior motive. We love only people whom we know are capable of loving us in return. We forget that true love isn't shown until we bless someone who cannot bless us back in return.

We are expected to live out today's key verse, Romans 12:9-10,
"Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other."
Being knee-deep in the affairs of others to make them better could be our little input to make a difference to the outside world. The surprising thing is that sometimes these show of love and display of affection costs us very little or nothing. We encounter people that need our help while we live our lives undisturbed. So sometimes, we make indelible impacts on the lives of people without we even knowing it ourselves.

And slowly but surely, we should recapture the sacredness of relationships that so often gets lost in the rush of our days. We should make time to ''stop and breathe it all in."
Although our to-do lists and schedules tug at our attention, we don't allow anything to take priority over these moments. I refuse to let the people I've been entrusted with get my "less" instead of my "best" because I'm distracted.
A little gift placed in the hands of a big God can change the world. It changed ours and it change our neighbours.
And I've done a lot of breathing it all in ever since.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me see the assignments right in front of me. I desperately want to unrush my schedule so I can love those You have entrusted to me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
