ARTICLE:
YE HAVE NOT SO LEARNED CHRIST

       As I pick my pen to write on this, I remember a song in my mother's dialect ''Omo olorun to n paro, ta lo fi jo....''. which means,''a child of God that tells a lie, where did you pick that trait from?"

       Every Sunday, our churches record a huge attendance of worshipers who have come to learn at the feet of Christ.A large number of them claim to be born again and sanctified by the word but still exhibits various traits that cannot be found in the light. We live in a corrupt and demoralized society I agree, but Christians contribute more to this.Our individual values are fast growing from right to wrong. We care less about the intrinsic values which lies in us. One which any external circumstances can't take away.  A lot of us know what should be done and how it should be done, but we care less about doing the right thing at the detriment of our desires. Our conscience is the epitome of God inside each and everyone of us whether black or white,short or tall, fat or slim, slave or free. It seeks to guide our every step and actions if we heed. So many have seered their consciences by simply ignoring the urge to do the right thing. So right within us, without any form of external judgment,we can judge each and every of our actions and access their consequences. What makes the difference is how responsible we can be. Responsibility is a value that's embraced by a society that seeks change. If individually we choose to be responsible for our actions, discerning correctly a right sense of judgment, we'll live with better consciences and leave a better legacy for the generations yet unborn.

         The verses before our scripture passage describes a vivid state of ignorance and unbelief. No one ever admits to be a child of the devil, but we mostly take instructions from him. We find his offers more appealing and thus indulge in deeds that can never be found in Christ. The Bible says that we are slaves to whoever we yield our members to, whether God or the devil. 2Cor.4:4 says;
 "in whom the God of this world had blinded the hearts of them which do not believe"
     We see from there that unbelievers who refuse the gospel do so out of the blindness of their minds. The fact that some unbelievers remain unsaved goes beyond a mere decision or a wish. It is a conscious effort of the devil at darkening their hearts with unbelief.

        If we truly have been taught by Jesus our master and we still possess an evidence of the truth in us, then we'll find it so easy to imitate Christ in all that we do. Our humility becomes second to none and we develop a great sense of diligence and responsibility. Living and doing right becomes our routine way of life as we shine bright as lights in perverse world.
